Position Overview:

The Technical Project Manager for the Compliance & Privacy division plays a pivotal role in steering significant projects aimed at safeguarding user privacy and adhering to global regulations related to messaging and calling. This position collaborates with various stakeholders across the organization.

Role Summary:

The Compliance/Privacy TPM operates at the crossroads of privacy, processes, and product development. In this capacity, the TPM must adeptly balance these three elements while considering the perspectives of users, regulators, and the organization. The TPM is responsible for ensuring that products achieve a high standard of privacy while appropriately managing trade-offs.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to comprehend and integrate diverse viewpoints to reach optimal outcomes for users, regulatory bodies, and the organization. Effective communication skills are essential for conveying progress and its implications on company objectives to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead company-wide initiatives focused on responsible data utilization and drive the strategy for a privacy-centric future of the messaging platform.
  • Evaluate technological requirements, resource allocation, and market and regulatory demands to formulate robust project plans.
  • Oversee cross-functional projects involving marketing, product development, engineering, legal, policy, and leadership teams to meet objectives; track and report on progress regularly.
  • Assist engineers with technical implementations.
  • Serve as the privacy product authority within the Messenger organization, providing consultation and influence on various projects.
  • Support the Privacy Product Group in reviewing efficacy and assist Privacy Advocates with project support and bug remediation.

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities; capable of uniting multiple stakeholders to achieve objectives amidst significant ambiguity.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership; able to influence stakeholders even when proposals conflict with their team's goals.
  • Proficient in desktop and cloud-based applications, including Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and project management tools.
  • Solid understanding of business and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, and product development methodologies.
  • Demonstrated program management skills, with experience in industry-standard practices such as PMP, Waterfall, and Agile.
  • Ability to comprehend technical architecture or code related to web, mobile applications, and database systems.
  • Genuine passion and experience in data privacy, security, compliance, and user safety.
