The Technical Project Manager for the Compliance & Privacy division plays a pivotal role in steering essential projects aimed at safeguarding user privacy and adhering to global regulations concerning messaging and calling, collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.
Role Summary:
This position operates at the crossroads of privacy, processes, and product development. The ideal candidate will effectively balance these elements while considering the perspectives of users, regulators, and the organization.
The TPM is responsible for ensuring that products meet the highest standards for privacy while making informed trade-offs. A key aspect of this role is the ability to communicate strategically with both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring clarity on progress and its implications for company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead company-wide initiatives focused on responsible data usage and drive the strategy for a privacy-centric future of the messaging platform.
- Evaluate technology, resource requirements, and market/regulatory demands to formulate robust project plans.
- Oversee cross-functional projects involving marketing, product development, engineering, legal, policy, and leadership teams to achieve project goals; track and report on progress regularly.
- Assist in technical implementations alongside engineering teams.
- Serve as the privacy product authority within the Messenger organization, providing consultation and influence across various projects.
- Support Privacy Product Group Review Efficacy and assist with Bug Triage and Remediation efforts.
Required Skills:
- Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities; adept at uniting diverse stakeholders to achieve objectives amidst significant ambiguity.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership; capable of influencing stakeholders even when it may conflict with their team's objectives.
- Proficient in desktop and cloud-based applications, including Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and project management tools.
- In-depth understanding of business and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, and product development methodologies.
- Demonstrated program management expertise, with familiarity in industry practices such as PMP, Waterfall, and Agile methodologies.
- Ability to comprehend technical architecture or code related to web, mobile applications, and database systems.
- Demonstrated passion and experience in data privacy, security, compliance, and user safety.
