Position Overview:

The Technical Project Manager for the Compliance & Privacy division plays a pivotal role in steering significant projects aimed at safeguarding user privacy and adhering to global regulations in messaging and calling. This position collaborates with various stakeholders across the organization.

Role Summary:


The primary responsibility of the Technical Project Manager is to navigate the intersection of privacy, processes, and product development. In this capacity, the TPM must judiciously balance these elements while considering the interests of users, regulators, and the organization.

The TPM is tasked with ensuring that products meet high standards for privacy while effectively managing trade-offs.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to synthesize diverse viewpoints to achieve optimal outcomes for users, regulatory bodies, and the organization.

Strategic communication skills are essential, enabling the TPM to convey progress and its implications for organizational objectives to both technical and non-technical audiences.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead company-wide initiatives focused on responsible data usage and shape the strategy for a privacy-centric future in messaging platforms.
  • Evaluate technological needs, resource requirements, and market regulations to formulate robust project plans.
  • Oversee cross-departmental projects involving marketing, product development, engineering, legal, policy, and leadership teams to meet objectives; consistently monitor and report on progress.
  • Assist engineers with technical implementations.
  • Serve as the privacy product authority within the organization, providing consultation and influence across various projects.
  • Support the Privacy Product Group in evaluating effectiveness and assist with project support and bug remediation.

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities; adept at uniting diverse stakeholders to achieve objectives amidst uncertainty.
  • Proven capability to work autonomously with a strong sense of motivation and accountability. Skilled in influencing stakeholders, even when proposals may conflict with their team's objectives.
  • Proficient in desktop and cloud-based applications, including Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and project management tools.
  • In-depth understanding of business and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, and product development methodologies, including PMP, Waterfall, and Agile.
  • Ability to comprehend technical architecture or code related to web, mobile applications, and database systems.
  • Demonstrated passion and experience in data privacy, security, compliance, and user safety.

Prior experience in technology firms or product development roles is preferred.
