We are in search of a Staff Security Engineer to spearhead our Privacy Engineering initiatives at Character Technologies. This role presents a unique opportunity to engage in the forefront of AI privacy and contribute to the evolution of security frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, architect, and lead strategic Privacy Engineering projects.
- Create technical systems to enforce privacy measures.
- Collaborate with diverse teams across Character to develop a framework and tools for anonymizing both user and third-party data.
- Work alongside the Legal department to establish protocols for data minimization, retention, and deletion, and develop the technology to facilitate these processes.
- Partner with the Data team to implement effective data governance strategies.
- Collaborate with the Security team on issues related to data protection.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in privacy-related projects or backend development.
- In-depth understanding of prevalent strategies for addressing data privacy challenges at scale.
- Proficient in developing high-performance services, with strong expertise in Python and/or Golang.
- Experience with both relational and non-relational data storage solutions.
- Familiarity with major cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, adept at identifying and resolving bottlenecks to ensure optimal backend performance.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Compensation:
Salary range: $150K - $350K
We offer equity, comprehensive health coverage for you and your family, a 401(K) match up to 5% of your salary, generous parental leave, 4 weeks of PTO, and gourmet meals delivered daily.
