Business Insight:

  1. Maintain awareness of budgetary constraints and make informed financial decisions in collaboration with the project manager.
  2. Oversee and evaluate the operational efficiency of McAlvain's self-performed work, identifying efficiencies and areas for improvement through labor production reports.
  3. Play a key role in planning, directing, and training company quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) processes.
  4. Lead and facilitate Pull Planning sessions with cross-functional teams.
  5. Ensure the project maintains a comprehensive set of current contract documents, shop drawings, and 'as-built' records.
  6. Document project progress in accordance with company policies for photographic documentation and daily/weekly construction reporting.
  7. Ensure efficient, timely, and high-quality project closeout procedures.
  8. Maintain job cleanliness, branding, marketing, and presentation standards as per company guidelines and approved Site Logistics Plans.
  9. Develop and foster strong relationships with subcontractors.
  10. Engage in business development and client interactions to support ongoing business growth.

Technical Expertise:

  1. Ability to manage a diverse range of construction types, overseeing concrete construction efforts to ensure alignment with design, budget, and schedule. Collaborate professionally with foremen, trades, project managers, client representatives, A/E representatives, and other contractors.
  2. Foster a proactive safety culture that emphasizes 'safety first' principles.
  3. Administer the project safety program to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, complying with corporate safety plans, owner regulations, state laws, OSHA standards, and project-specific safety measures. Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions. Perform monthly safety audits, including site visits and reviews of project-specific documentation (Job Hazard Analysis, Pre-Task Plans, etc.).
  4. Demonstrate the ability to independently develop and mentor foremen, with a keen eye for identifying and nurturing talent.
  5. Provide technical assistance, constructability feedback, interpret drawings, and develop construction methods consistent with contract documents, budget, and schedule during preconstruction and construction phases.
  6. Participate in purchasing and scheduling commitments with the project manager as needed.
  7. Exhibit the ability to independently develop and audit project schedules at all design development phases, identifying and communicating challenges and opportunities.
  8. Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site functions, including engineering, scheduling, material deliveries, subcontractors, equipment, and manpower requirements.
  9. Take a leading role in developing and implementing project procedures and standards.
  10. Reinforce, support, and train on industry and company standards to achieve consistent results.
  11. Act as a catalyst for effective, timely decision-making to ensure procurement, submittal, and other project management functions are executed efficiently.
  12. Establish and maintain relationships with field superintendents, foremen, and management teams. Support field superintendents and foremen by demonstrating strong leadership in recruiting, training, mentoring, and motivating.
  13. Ensure foremen plan for self-performed work to anticipate equipment and manpower needs.
  14. Ensure project schedules and sub-schedules are updated as required, enhancing overall schedule awareness.
  15. Align field operations with the requirements of the Prime Agreement.
  16. Maintain familiarity with owner contract terms and associated risks.
  17. Assist with project pursuits by developing early schedules, logistics plans, and work plans.

Qualifications:

  1. Proficient in software such as Bluebeam, Procore, Outbuild, and Primavera.
  2. Experience in self-performing concrete work.
  3. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a concrete superintendent.
  4. Strong understanding of all building construction trades.
  5. Skilled in Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
  7. Knowledge of safety standards, including OSHA 30 or greater.
  8. A self-starter with the ability to set and achieve goals with strong leadership capabilities.
