Position Summary

The Equipment Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the upkeep and repair of thermal soil remediation and mobile equipment, ensuring operations are conducted safely and efficiently. This role may also involve assisting with facility operations, including the management of heavy machinery and soil processing equipment.

This position is primarily first shift, with the expectation of occasional weekend and overtime work as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee repairs and preventative maintenance of plant equipment (including screeners, conveyors, and thermal remediation components) and heavy machinery (such as wheel loaders and excavators).
  • Conduct daily inspections of equipment and monitor production processes, reporting any maintenance needs to management.
  • Perform maintenance tasks for the facility's buildings and grounds as required.
  • Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance and inspections.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Environmental, Health, and Safety teams to prioritize maintenance tasks.
  • Develop work orders for maintenance and procure necessary supplies and parts.
  • Operate heavy machinery and assist with plant processing as needed.
  • Work independently while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and combustion systems.
  • Strong mechanical skills and familiarity with equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret equipment manuals and schematics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with hand and power tools for repair tasks.
  • Welding (MIG and stick) and fabrication skills are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with inspection and maintenance standards for various systems.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery and computerized processing equipment.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to safety.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with customers and colleagues.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Trade school graduates are encouraged to apply.
