Position Summary

The Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective maintenance of thermal soil remediation equipment and mobile machinery. This position also involves supporting facility operations, which may include operating heavy machinery, soil processing tools, and the soil remediation facility.

This is a first shift role that may require occasional weekend and overtime work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for repairs and preventative maintenance of plant equipment (such as screeners, conveyors, and thermal soil remediation components) and heavy machinery (including wheel loaders and excavators).
  • Conduct daily inspections of equipment, documenting conditions and reporting any issues to management.
  • Perform maintenance tasks for the facility's buildings and grounds as necessary.
  • Maintain precise records of equipment maintenance and inspections.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Environmental, Health, and Safety teams to prioritize maintenance tasks.
  • Create maintenance work orders and manage the procurement of supplies, parts, and services.
  • Operate heavy equipment as needed to assist Operations.
  • Work independently while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.

Compensation: Hourly Rate: $33-$40/hour

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or combustion systems.
  • Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret equipment manuals and schematics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with hand tools and power tools for repairs.
  • Welding (MIG and stick) and fabrication skills are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with inspection, preventative maintenance, and cleaning standards.
  • Experience in operating heavy machinery and computerized processing equipment.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritize tasks, and follow directions.
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to safety.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with customers and colleagues.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Trade School graduates are encouraged to apply.
