The Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective maintenance of thermal soil remediation equipment and mobile machinery. This position may also involve assisting with facility operations, including the operation of heavy machinery, soil processing equipment, and the soil remediation facility.
This is a first shift role that may require occasional weekend and overtime work as necessary.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee repairs and preventative maintenance for plant equipment (such as screeners, conveyors, and thermal soil remediation components) and heavy machinery (including wheel loaders and excavators).
- Conduct daily inspections of equipment and monitor all production and processing machinery. Report any maintenance needs to management.
- Perform maintenance tasks for buildings and grounds as required.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and inspections.
- Collaborate with Operations and Environmental, Health, and Safety teams to prioritize maintenance tasks.
- Develop maintenance work orders and procure necessary supplies, parts, and services. Manage inventory of materials and parts.
- Operate heavy machinery and assist Operations as needed.
- Work independently while adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
- Ensure a clean working environment, including regular cleaning of the shop and equipment.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
Compensation: Hourly Rate: $33-$40/hour
QualificationsBasic Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or combustion systems.
- Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of equipment maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and schematics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with hand tools and power tools for repairs.
- Welding (MIG and stick) and fabrication skills are advantageous.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with inspection, preventative maintenance, and cleaning standards for equipment.
- Experience operating heavy machinery and computerized processing equipment.
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and work unsupervised when necessary.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious attitude.
- Professional demeanor when interacting with customers and coworkers.
- Willingness to wear company-issued personal protective equipment.
- Trade School graduates are encouraged to apply.
