Position Summary
The Field Service Engineer (FSE) will deliver both routine and advanced field service support for our Sievers brand total organic carbon (TOC) analytical instruments and their accessories at client locations, primarily within the greater Phoenix AZ metropolitan area, with occasional support for clients in the broader West Service Region. Responsibilities will encompass maintenance, verification, validation, repair, and calibration tasks, as well as troubleshooting operational challenges.

Effective client communication, both written and verbal, is crucial for success in this role. Candidates should possess technical competence and experience in field support, customer service, and ultra-pure water applications or laboratory instrumentation operation.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to client locations to perform preventive maintenance and related services on TOC equipment.
  • Plan, schedule, and confirm client services, including coordinating travel and parts shipments.
  • Maintain administrative duties, manage parts inventory, and participate in relevant training.
  • Engage with clients through calls, participate in sales rhythm calls, and attend service team meetings.
  • Respond to urgent service requests with defined response commitments for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Draft clear and concise reports for clients.
  • Assist with special projects and new hire training as directed by supervisors.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales to identify new instrument and service opportunities, as well as upsell services and consumables based on client needs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and operational standards.
  • Domestic travel is expected to be around 70% of the time.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical, mathematical, and customer service skills.
  • Able to prioritize tasks effectively, balancing service duties and administrative responsibilities.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and problem-solving, with the ability to identify root causes.
  • General knowledge of electrical equipment, chemistry, and safety practices.
  • Ability to learn and apply company procedures promptly.
  • Computer proficiency, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Experience using hand tools and analytical instrumentation, and handling chemicals safely.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage projects independently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and contribute effectively within a team environment.

Education & Experience
Required:
Associate's Degree in a Science, Technical, or Engineering discipline; or equivalent experience with a minimum of 3 years in ultra-pure water applications or servicing analytical instrumentation in a laboratory setting.

Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or Physics; or equivalent experience with at least 1 year in ultra-pure water applications or servicing analytical instrumentation.
