Job Overview

CMT Technical Services, a leader in materials engineering, is in search of a Project Manager to effectively oversee and manage all aspects of testing and inspection projects. This role involves preparing and controlling project costs, managing personnel, maintaining client relationships, reviewing field and laboratory reports, addressing technical challenges, and ensuring high-quality service delivery. The Project Manager will also be responsible for pursuing future opportunities through competitive bidding and showcasing the firm's qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project budgets
  • Prepare and submit cost estimates for new structural and civil engineering projects
  • Create annual budgets and forecasts based on current workload and project backlog
  • Assign qualified personnel to each project
  • Review all testing and laboratory results
  • Provide technical guidance and training oversight for field technicians and special inspectors
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Facilitate monthly safety meetings with field staff and special inspectors
  • Perform safety and technical assessments of field technicians and special inspectors
  • Enforce adherence to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Resolve technical and operational challenges with clients
  • Assist in the recruitment and termination processes for field technicians and special inspectors
  • Understand and manage contractual agreements
  • Support business development initiatives at client events

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a Project Manager role or similar supervisory position

Certifications: ACI, ATTI, ICC certifications are preferred but not mandatory.

Performance Metrics

  • Number of bids prepared and successfully won
  • Number of new client setups
  • Client satisfaction metrics - tracking complaints and concerns
  • Quality assessment of field technicians and special inspectors through performance reviews
  • Management of project budgets - tracking overages and profits, preparing change orders
  • Maintain a minimum of 70% billable hours
