Compensation: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour (based on experience and state regulations)

Department: Kitchen

Classification: FLSA Non-Exempt, Hourly

Reports to: Chef de Cuisine / Executive Chef

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Line Cook will prepare a variety of dishes using both traditional and innovative recipes. This role requires alignment with the restaurant's vision and culinary standards. You will learn food preparation techniques and uphold the highest quality standards while fostering a collaborative and positive kitchen atmosphere. Training new staff may also be part of your responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance.
  • Ensure all ingredients and final dishes are fresh and of the highest quality.
  • Follow recipes accurately, including measuring and mixing ingredients.
  • Prepare various cooking methods such as baking, grilling, steaming, and boiling.
  • Present and garnish dishes attractively.
  • Keep the workspace clean and safe, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Assist in opening and closing kitchen procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with special guest requests.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
  • Participate in cross-training for various kitchen positions as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To succeed in this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum of 2 years of culinary experience.
  • Availability for a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong understanding of professional cooking techniques and safety.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Food Handler Certification is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8 to 10 hours) and regularly lift and carry up to 30 pounds, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment may include moderate noise levels and varying temperatures, with areas that may be wet or slippery.
