Overview

Under the guidance of the Regional Coordinator, the Director of the School-Age Program is responsible for the overall effectiveness and success of the program's operations, including the well-being of its participants and staff. The primary duty of the Director is to oversee the daily functions of the preschool program. This role requires the capability to efficiently manage, develop, and lead both personnel and program initiatives. Candidates must possess a working knowledge of licensing standards (Title 22 and/or Title 5) and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) guidelines, as well as Desired Results standards. Furthermore, the position necessitates the ability to:

  1. Conduct research, analyze data, and propose program strategies that align with PACCC and center goals;
  2. Assess and evaluate current programs in relation to contemporary trends;
  3. Design and modify program approaches to ensure fairness, legal compliance, and market competitiveness;
  4. Guide and develop staff in utilizing age-appropriate program trends and tools, including NAEYC/Desired Results standards;
  5. Collaborate proactively with PACCC administration, demonstrating strong teamwork capabilities;
  6. Uphold confidentiality and represent PACCC positively at all times.

Qualifications

Applicants should have substantial knowledge of child care programs and licensing regulations, typically acquired through a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development or a related discipline. A minimum of five years of supervisory and program development experience is preferred, with at least two years in staff supervision and program development. Candidates must have completed three or more semester units in Early Childhood Program Administration. A Child Development Site Supervisor permit is required.

Afterschool Program Requirements

Minimum qualifications include completion of 24 semester units in Early Childhood Education, including Core units, or completion of 24 semester units in relevant fields such as Recreation, Physical Education, Human Services, Social Welfare, Nursing, Psychology, Sociology, Home Economics, ECE, Child Development, or School Age classes. Additionally, all applicants must have the equivalent of 3 semester units in an administrative course.

Preferred qualifications include any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with a major in Child Development or a related field. Previous experience with Desired Results assessments is also preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be vaccinated for measles and pertussis; must obtain an annual flu vaccine or provide a signed declination form; must be tested for TB upon hire.
  • Must complete a pre-employment physical.
  • Must pass a fingerprint background clearance check.
