Responsibilities

The Project Engineer plays a vital role in supporting the Project Manager and Superintendent in the daily oversight of construction projects valued at over $20 million.

This role encompasses all necessary activities to source, pursue, and execute a project, including cost estimation, contract management, scheduling, and risk-quality oversight.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities while fostering positive client relationships to encourage future engagements.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, including quantity take-offs and pricing.
  • Engage in bid solicitation, preparation, and analysis of bid packages.
  • Assist in the management of general contracts and subcontracts.
  • Interpret and understand contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project timelines.
  • Prepare necessary permit applications.
  • Maintain current construction documents, including as-built records.
  • Oversee and process shop drawings and submittals.
  • Provide on-site project management support to the superintendent.
  • Coordinate procurement and timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Facilitate the Request for Information (RFI) process.
  • Document and distribute minutes from project coordination meetings.
  • Monitor project timelines to ensure compliance with critical deadlines.
  • Initiate, review, and negotiate change orders.
  • Oversee the project close-out process, including the creation and completion of punch lists.
  • Address complex challenges and propose alternative solutions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Architectural, or Construction), Construction Management, or a related field is required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in commercial construction.
  • Relevant experience supporting construction projects from inception to completion across various commercial sectors, including High-Rise, Multifamily/Student Housing, Senior Living, Large Box Industrial, and Hospitality.
  • Preferred experience in conceptual estimating and bidding within commercial construction.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, and SharePoint.
  • Key success factors include a passion for the industry, self-motivation, strong work ethic, effective time management, organization, attention to detail, and creativity.
  • Willingness to travel as projects and clients are regional and national.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring work authorization sponsorship.
