Job Summary:

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is seeking a highly qualified Human Resource professional to assume the role of Associate Director of Human Resources. This position will be responsible for assisting the Director of Human Resources in developing, implementing, and carrying out the organization's HR initiatives in all areas of Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Talent Acquisition and Management: Assist the Director of HR in overseeing the talent acquisition process, including full-cycle recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants.
  • Job Description Development: Partner with hiring managers to develop, update, and revise job descriptions to ensure alignment with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • HR Policy and Procedure Development: Assist the Director of Human Resources in updating, developing, and implementing AACR's Human Resource Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Employee Relations and Support: Manage the work processes performed by the HR Team and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Employee Disciplinary Actions: Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, separations, and investigations to ensure fair and consistent treatment.
  • Performance Management and Development: Provide coaching and consulting services to AACR's management team on Performance Management, Employee Relations, and Employee Development/Training to enhance employee performance and growth.
  • Research and Development: Research, develop, write, and implement AACR's human resource policies and procedures to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Health and Safety Management: Manage AACR's health and safety, including applicable OSHA and ADA regulations to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Performance Evaluation: Participate in the performance evaluation process to ensure accurate and fair assessments of employee performance.
  • Special Projects and Initiatives: Assist in the management, planning, and implementation of special projects and initiatives of the AACR and the HR Department to drive business results.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain synergistic relationships with all departments within AACR and manage external vendor relationships to ensure seamless collaboration and service delivery.
  • Industry Knowledge and Trends: Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law to stay ahead of the curve.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of HR management experience.
  • Excellent management skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience within the various Human Resources Disciplines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong team leadership skills.
  • Ability to remain flexible and shift priorities quickly.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
Education and Training:
  • B.A. or B.S. Degree required.
  • Master's degree in Human Resource Management or SHRM/HRCI certified designation.
Computer Knowledge:
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Spreadsheet and database programs.
