Human Resources Director

Job Summary:

Girard College is seeking a highly experienced Human Resources Director to lead the development and execution of human resource strategy in support of the organization's overall business plan and strategic direction. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, leading, directing, developing, and coordinating the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of Girard College's mission and talent strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Provide direction and oversight for subordinate staff.
  • Plan, lead, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administer the administration of human resource programs, including compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Identify staffing and recruiting needs; develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Conduct research and analysis of organizational trends, including review of reports and metrics from Girard College's systems.
  • Monitor and ensure the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Facilitate professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with Girard College policy.
  • Ensure that Girard College employee manuals and related documents are current.
Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Qualification Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least seven years of human resource management experience, with at least two years of executive HR experience.
  • Experience in a union environment is preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP are highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at desk and working on computer.
