Multi-Craft Supervisor for Research Reactor Operations

Position Overview:

We are in search of a Multi-Craft Supervisor to play a vital role in overseeing maintenance operations at the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) and its associated facilities. This position is integral to the Research Reactors Division within the Neutron Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage maintenance activities carried out by a diverse team of electricians, millwrights, pipefitters, carpenters, and laborers.
  • Coordinate and schedule the work of various craft personnel to ensure efficient facility operations.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary materials and tools for maintenance tasks.
  • Implement integrated safety management practices throughout the HFIR work control process, providing leadership in safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with other craft supervisors and personnel to support administrative functions such as training, time tracking, and performance evaluations.
  • Align team behaviors and priorities with ORNL's core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service, while promoting a respectful and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in a nuclear reactor environment.
  • Knowledge of field maintenance activities within a nuclear facility.
  • Prior supervisory or project management experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of working independently and collaboratively within teams.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic research environment, effectively prioritizing multiple tasks and adapting to changing needs.

Special Requirements:

  • This role is subject to Workplace Substance Abuse program testing, requiring a pre-placement drug test and participation in ongoing random testing.
  • Physical requirements and working conditions will necessitate a pre-hire physical examination.
  • Access to certain technologies requires compliance with export control regulations.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an HSPD-12 PIV badge.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
