Universal Engineering Sciences is excited to announce an opening for a Lead Geotechnical Project Engineer in our expanding team. We are in search of a motivated, innovative, and seasoned engineer who is eager to leverage their expertise across a diverse range of projects. The perfect candidate will possess not only the essential technical abilities required for this role but also the capacity to effectively engage with all team members throughout the lifecycle of geotechnical projects.

Compensation: Starting at $160k annually, with negotiable salary based on experience, skillset, and certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and oversee geotechnical engineering assessments and analyses.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, including project owners, architects, and other design professionals to ascertain project requirements.
  • Develop scopes of service, proposals, and budget estimates.
  • Work in tandem with project management and field personnel to deliver technical guidance.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and support to junior engineers.
  • Evaluate field and laboratory data.
  • Draft and review geotechnical engineering documentation.
  • Engage in geotechnical plan evaluations, business development, and participate in project design and construction meetings as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required; Geotechnical Engineer (GE) registration is required or must be obtained within a year.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in geotechnical engineering or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Experience with California projects, particularly in educational and healthcare facilities, is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A valid California Driver's License and a clean driving record are required.
  • Willingness to assist with business development and outreach to prospective clients.
