Position: Geotechnical Engineer

Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer (EIT or PE) to join our Energy Group. This role will be based in our offices and involves working on a variety of complex water and natural resources projects globally.

The successful candidate will engage in diverse and challenging tasks related to dams, hydroelectric projects, conveyance tunnels, and water resource initiatives for both domestic and international clients.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to safety protocols and company policies while planning and executing work.
  • Collaborate with engineers and geologists to address project challenges, performing necessary design calculations.
  • Support feasibility studies through research to identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Conduct field inspections and participate in exploration and testing programs, evaluating geotechnical hazards under senior supervision.
  • Determine criteria for the planning, design, and construction of various structures including dams and tunnels.
  • Assess subsurface conditions, reviewing field maps, logs, and test data.
  • Analyze field and laboratory test data to develop parameters for technical analyses.
  • Utilize numerical analysis software such as DIPS, UNWEDGE, and FLAC under guidance.
  • Familiarize yourself with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports including geotechnical data, feasibility studies, and design evaluations.
  • Provide field engineering support during construction phases.
  • Engage in professional development and training activities.
Qualifications:

Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Solid understanding of civil/geotechnical or geological engineering principles.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally for field investigations.
  • Exposure to numerical modeling and finite element analysis is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Previous internship experience in a consulting role is beneficial.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
Education and Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering focusing on Geotechnical Engineering; PE certification is preferred.
