Position Summary:
The role of Senior Counsel for Open Banking is pivotal as we expand our Open Banking Solutions. With recent acquisitions, including Finicity and Aiia, we aim to enhance our global presence in this rapidly evolving sector.

Key Responsibilities:
This full-time position is integral to our global open banking legal team. Reporting to the Vice President of the North American Open Banking legal team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting legal and business risk assessments on new product frameworks, sales contracts, and market entry strategies related to Mastercard's open banking offerings.
  • Providing legal guidance throughout the product lifecycle, from conception to launch and beyond.
  • Drafting and negotiating technology sales, reseller, and vendor agreements.
  • Overseeing contractual negotiations with various stakeholders in the open banking ecosystem, including fintech companies, financial institutions, and service providers.
  • Offering legal counsel on a diverse range of commercial and contractual issues.
  • Collaborating across product and legal teams to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Engaging with internal and external regulatory counsel to navigate local laws and regulations impacting Mastercard's open banking solutions.
  • Building strong relationships with product development, business, and sales teams, as well as senior management.
  • Ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Supporting the initiatives of the open banking team in North America and globally.
  • Managing special projects while handling ongoing legal matters.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Robust transactional experience, preferably in-house.
  • Familiarity with product development in open banking or regulated products.
  • Strong business acumen and communication skills.
  • The ability to quickly understand complex products and navigate legal challenges.
  • Attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills for complex commercial contracts.
  • A collaborative spirit and willingness to support team objectives.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and a valid license to practice law in the US.
