Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to support our operational needs within the R&D or Production teams. This role can be filled by either full-time or part-time candidates. The successful applicant will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and will be expected to work collaboratively within a dedicated team, demonstrating attention to detail in all tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain operational efficiency and uphold workplace safety standards.
  • Contribute to the development of equipment maintenance strategies and procedures.
  • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions.
  • Support the upkeep of all building systems and surrounding areas.
  • Follow established safety protocols and engage in safety initiatives.
  • Keep accurate maintenance logs and records.
  • Complete assigned tasks independently and punctually, adhering to relevant SOPs and guidelines.
  • Assist in managing an organized inventory of spare parts for equipment and systems.
  • Ensure a tidy work environment and assist in cleaning equipment as necessary.
  • Support external contractors as needed for various projects.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned within the scope of the role.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge Required:

  • Understanding of safe work practices.
  • Basic proficiency in computer usage.

Essential Skills:

  • Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Familiarity with processes, systems, and resources.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Required Abilities:

  • Follow detailed instructions accurately.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Maintain precise records.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly.
  • Demonstrate strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
  • Plan and organize work activities around maintenance deadlines while coordinating with operations to minimize production disruptions.
  • Carry out a variety of routine maintenance tasks, including carpentry, painting, and plumbing.
  • Operate facility equipment, utilities, and HVAC systems according to established protocols.
  • Conduct intermediate troubleshooting of utility, process, and HVAC-related systems.
  • Experience in light mechanical and electrical assembly, as well as equipment maintenance.
  • Provide foundational support for the initiation of new equipment to ensure compliance with mechanical design specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Understanding of laboratory safety protocols and biosafety principles.
  • Experience in a regulated operational environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret process system manuals, plumbing layouts, architectural drawings, HVAC schematics, and process P&IDs.
  • A minimum of five years of combined education, training, and experience in Utility Operations/Maintenance, Process Equipment Maintenance, Control Systems, HVAC Operations/Maintenance, or Fire Systems Maintenance.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Experience in PLC system troubleshooting.
  • Completion of technical training in mechanical or electrical fields.
  • Experience with electronic or instrumentation repair.
