Reporting To: Facility Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Clear Lake, SD

Department: Facility Maintenance

Travel Requirements: None

Employment Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation: $21.50 per hour

Work Schedule: 4/10 hour shifts

Position Summary: The Facility Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep and functionality of the facility's grounds, equipment, and structures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conducts grounds maintenance, including operating grass and snow removal equipment.
  2. Utilizes company vehicles as necessary.
  3. Performs routine maintenance on buildings, including minor painting, filter replacements, light bulb changes, and hardware repairs.
  4. Completes scheduled maintenance on tractors, skid-steers, and grounds maintenance machinery.
  5. Operates and maintains all air compressors.
  6. Replaces air makeup filters as needed based on production requirements.
  7. Assists in cleaning the administrative building, including vacuuming and sanitizing surfaces.
  8. Collects parts or supplies from local vendors.
  9. Clears snow from all buildings and parking areas.
  10. Oversees trash and recycling programs.
  11. Maintains records for various maintenance checks conducted monthly, semiannually, and annually.
  12. Assists with scheduled static grounding checks for all production facilities.
  13. Handles minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC repairs.
  14. Manages maintenance activities that may generate hazardous waste and fulfills environmental management responsibilities.
  15. Performs additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (ITAR restrictions apply).
  2. Minimum age of 18 years is required.
  3. Eligibility to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) is required.
  4. A high school diploma or GED is mandatory; related experience or training is preferred.
  5. Effective communication and documentation skills in English are essential.
  6. Function-specific RCRA training will be provided upon hire.
  7. Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  8. Capability to manage multiple tasks in support of overall objectives.

  5. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier items.
  6. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  7. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, electrical hazards, and explosives is frequent.
  8. Hearing protection is required in designated areas.
  9. Employees must wear clothing that mitigates electrostatic discharge (ESD) and company-issued safety footwear.
