Job Summary:

As a key member of the Kaiser Permanente team, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a large unit or multiple units providing ambulatory services. This role requires a strong leader who can ensure staff provides high-quality, accessible, cost-effective care and patient-focused services to members across the continuum, while complying with local, state, and federal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Leadership: Supervise the operations of a single or multiple units, ensuring staff provides the highest quality of care and adheres to the Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Collaboration and Development: Collaborate with physician team leaders, department chiefs, and nursing managers to develop patient services and day-to-day operations of the department.
  • Patient Care and Quality: Implement and maintain patient care and quality service standards to meet members' and internal clients' expectations.
  • Patient Advocacy: Act as a patient advocate, resolving patient care issues and ensuring patient-centered care.
  • Process Improvement: Recommend and evaluate processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum of care.
  • Financial Management: Assist in developing and monitoring budgets and resource allocations, monitoring financial performance, and identifying strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care/service.
  • Human Resources and Labor Relations: Manage and resolve human resource, labor relations, employee, and department safety issues, as well as risk management concerns.
  • Staff Development and Competency: Determine the appropriate staff mix for the department, develop processes to screen, interview, hire, train, and maintain the competency of all department staff.
  • Policy and Procedure Development: Assist in providing ongoing staff development, implementing and monitoring departmental policies and procedures that support the organization's goals and business objectives.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Bachelor's degree in nursing or a health-related field, or four (4) years of nursing experience.
  • License and Certification: Registered Nurse License (California) and Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other local, state, and federal regulations, as well as the ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous nursing experience in outpatient care and clinical specialization in the area of practice.
