The Katie A Intensive Services Program is a specialized, cross-system mental health initiative that assists children, adolescents, young adults, and their families in achieving their personal goals through a family-centered approach.

POSITION SUMMARY

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, with flexible hours based on program needs.

This role operates within the agency's vision and mission, providing support and coaching to caregivers while offering a parental perspective in various contexts. The position aims to foster a shared understanding among individuals and groups, adhering to the agency's service philosophy. Utilizing both personal and professional experiences, the Family Partner I will instill hope for a brighter future, demonstrate unconditional acceptance, and assist in problem-solving. This role also promotes family-friendly practices by incorporating parental insights into routine operations and program development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leverage personal and professional experiences to offer peer support to parents and caregivers as needed.
  • Educate parents and caregivers about the agency's services and procedures, including the Family Partner I role.
  • Engage in various support services for families, including events and recognition activities.
  • Guide families in decision-making and planning tailored to their needs, empowering them to direct their treatment.
  • Collaborate in Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings to ensure families have access, voice, and choice in the process.
  • Identify community resources for internal teams.
  • Serve as a consultant to enhance mutual understanding between families and service providers.
  • Provide culturally sensitive, non-judgmental support to parents and caregivers.
  • Assist families in establishing and reconnecting with their natural support systems.
  • Model effective coping strategies for parents and caregivers.
  • Contribute a caregiver's perspective within agency support structures.
  • Aid in the design and delivery of training focused on the parental perspective.
  • Employ conflict resolution skills as necessary.
  • Engage in ongoing learning related to youth and family engagement.
  • Effectively manage scheduling to accommodate multiple families and meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with agency standards.
  • Hold staff accountable to service delivery principles regarding family voice, choice, access, and process.
  • Participate in service improvement initiatives.
  • Attend program and system meetings as required.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to meet departmental needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must fulfill the essential duties satisfactorily. The following qualifications are necessary:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to articulate the experiences of a parent or caregiver of a child with complex needs.
  • Minimum of years of experience as a parent or caregiver of a child with special needs.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of therapeutic crisis intervention and agency training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Some college education is preferred.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in another language is highly desirable.
