The Katie A Intensive Services Program provides specialized cross-system mental health support for children, adolescents, young adults, and families, focusing on their chosen goals while fostering relationships through a family-centered approach.

JOB SUMMARY

Scheduled Hours: Monday-Friday, [time] to [time] with split shifts based on program needs.

This role operates within the agency's vision, mission, and philosophy to offer support and coaching on specific skill sets for caregivers, while providing a parental perspective in various settings. The position aids in developing a shared understanding among individuals and groups, grounded in the agency's twelve principles of service philosophy. By leveraging personal and professional experiences, the role aims to establish credibility, instill hope for a brighter future, demonstrate unconditional acceptance, and assist in problem-solving. The position promotes family-friendly practices by incorporating a parent's viewpoint into routine operations and program development. Additionally, it provides consultation and training for staff to enhance awareness and effectiveness in parent-professional partnerships. Participation in program and community meetings is essential to amplify parent voice, choice, access, and involvement throughout the service delivery process. The role involves direct engagement with youth and adults.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Utilize personal and professional experiences to offer peer support to parents and caregivers involved in the program.
  • Provide parents and caregivers with information regarding the agency, processes, and the Family Partner I role.
  • Engage in various support services for parents/caregivers, including family events and recognition activities.
  • Guide families in decision-making and plan development tailored to their needs, encouraging them to voice their treatment preferences.
  • Collaborate in Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings to ensure family members have access, voice, and choice in the process.
  • Identify community connections for internal teams.
  • Serve as a consultant to promote mutual understanding between families and service providers.
  • Offer non-judgmental, culturally informed support to parents and caregivers.
  • Explore and establish natural support systems, linking families with community resources.
  • Model and coach effective coping strategies for parents and caregivers.
  • Provide a caregiver's perspective within agency support structures.
  • Assist in designing and implementing training focused on the parent perspective.
  • Employ conflict resolution skills as needed.
  • Engage in continuous learning to enhance family and youth engagement.
  • Manage schedules effectively to meet the needs of multiple families and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with agency standards.
  • Hold staff accountable to service delivery principles related to family voice, choice, access, and process.
  • Participate in service improvement and development initiatives.
  • Attend program and system meetings as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to articulate the experiences and perspectives of a parent/caregiver or relative of a child with complex needs, typically acquired through being the primary caregiver of such a child.
