Your Role:

  • As an Oral Surgery Support Specialist, you will assist our oral surgeon before, during, and after dental procedures. Success in this role requires exceptional organizational skills and a keen attention to patient needs.
  • Surgical Responsibilities:
    • Ensure proper cleaning of instruments following infection control and biohazard protocols.
    • Operate and maintain autoclave equipment.
    • Prepare surgical trays and identify instruments used in the clinic.
    • Set up and break down rooms for IV anesthesia and surgical procedures.
    • Seat patients and conduct pre-operative preparations.
    • Review patient charts and set up nitrous oxide as needed.
    • Position restraints appropriately and support airway management for sedated patients.
    • Utilize calming techniques to reassure patients.
    • Circulate and retrieve instruments during procedures.
    • Monitor patients post-anesthesia and assess their need for medical attention.
    • Understand emergency protocols and operate emergency equipment.
    • Conduct routine maintenance on instruments and equipment.
    • Deliver exceptional patient care.
  • Non-Surgical Responsibilities:
    • Familiarize yourself with all necessary forms and handouts.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements.
    • Welcome patients and create a comfortable environment.
    • Handle administrative tasks including appointment scheduling, filing, and charting.
    • Conduct patient consultations and provide discharge instructions.
    • Make follow-up calls to patients and perform X-rays/scans.
    • Document EMR notes for various appointments and procedures.
    • Manage daily office operations, including opening and closing procedures.
    • Support colleagues as needed.
  • Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program.
    • Certification as a Surgical Assistant.
    • Current CPR/BLS certification.
    • Dental X-ray license required.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
    • Capability to provide outstanding patient care under pressure.
    • Professional demeanor in appearance and attitude.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $34.00 per hour
