Position: Collection Specialist

Location: Auburn Hills, MI

Role Summary: The Collection Specialist serves as a crucial link between MERSINO DEWATERING LLC and our clientele, focusing on the recovery of outstanding debts and the resolution of overdue accounts. Key responsibilities include overseeing customer accounts and accounts receivable aging reports, reaching out to clients regarding overdue payments, documenting all interactions, and reporting on collection efforts. This role requires both teamwork and individual initiative to contribute to the overall success of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly review the company's accounts receivable aging reports; conduct collection calls in accordance with established company protocols, keeping the Branch Manager and Account Manager informed of any issues that arise during the collection process, including thorough documentation of all communications.
  • Guide customers on available payment options and recommend suitable methods for settling their accounts.
  • Maintain detailed records of all communications with customers, including attempts to contact them and any payments received.
  • Issue monthly statements to customers; ensure that account balances are accurate and address any discrepancies as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Accounts Receivable Team and Sales Team to address customer concerns related to invoicing.
  • Provide regular updates on the status of delinquent accounts and any progress made in repayment.
  • Oversee the lien/bond process across all locations, ensuring timely issuance of written notices as required by job type and location to facilitate the collection of all outstanding amounts.
  • Work alongside the Accounts Receivable Team to track, record, and report on daily customer payments and credits.
  • Distribute accounts receivable aging reports to internal stakeholders for review and input.
  • Lead weekly collection meetings with branch staff and document the details of these discussions.
  • Research and apply effective debt collection strategies.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries regarding their accounts.
  • Comply with all relevant company policies and procedures, as well as applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Ensure that the principles outlined in The Mersino Way guide all daily activities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • An associate's degree in business or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in credit and collections is required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Basic knowledge of local, state, and federal debt collection regulations.
  • Understanding of customer service principles and processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Physical ability to engage in activities such as walking, standing, and lifting, which may involve handling heavy or awkward materials.
