Position Overview
This role is situated within the In-Space Systems division, dedicated to tackling significant challenges in modern spaceflight, specifically in enhancing space infrastructure and improving on-orbit mobility.
As a member of our diverse and dedicated engineering team, you will engage in the design, analysis, and testing of avionics routed interconnect systems for spacecraft. This position is part of the Spacecraft Avionics section within the In-Space Systems division. You will collaborate with a growing team of design engineers, contributing to programs that are pivotal to the future of Blue Origin.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate in the development and analysis of electrical harness designs within a multidisciplinary team.
- Create System and Wiring Interconnect Diagrams.
- Utilize CAD tools for the design and integration of electrical harnesses on space vehicles.
- Prepare Harness Installation Drawings.
- Generate 2D flat Harness Drawings.
- Manage harness component selection and configuration of the engineering Bill of Materials (eBOM).
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing wire harnesses for the aerospace sector.
- 5 years of experience in creating schematics and various interconnect diagrams.
- Proficiency in Creo and Windchill, along with Routed Systems or comparable 3D design software.
- Experience in harness component selection and eBOM configuration management.
- Understanding of wire derating analysis principles.
- Familiarity with relevant harness standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620A and NASA-STD.
- Strong skills in electrical and mechanical design and integration using 3D CAD software.
- Ability to foster trust and maintain professional relationships, contributing to an inclusive workplace culture.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee/asylee.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CREO Schematics and/or ZUKEN software.
- Knowledge of routing and installing RF coaxial cables.
- Familiarity with high-end CAD routing software.
- Expertise in electrical and mechanical routing.
- Understanding of harness fabrication and installation processes.
- Experience with electrical/mechanical systems in launch vehicles or spacecraft.
- Proven experience in designing and integrating electrical harnesses for aerospace applications.
- Background in harness manufacturing within the aerospace industry.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is competitive and varies based on location and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, a 401(k) plan with company matching, and an Education Support Program. Paid Time Off includes up to four weeks per year and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
