Senior Systems Engineer for Spacecraft Integration

About the Role:

This is a challenging opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at Jacobs, a leading provider of technical, professional, and construction services. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for providing Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) support to various branches, including Systems Planning and Technical Leadership, Payload Adapter Engineering, and Spacecraft Integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and trace design and construction requirements to ensure that the spacecraft meets the required specifications.
  • Develop and maintain detailed requirement specification documents to facilitate communication among team members.
  • Support verification and validation planning to ensure that the spacecraft meets the required standards.
  • Lead the implementation of required requirements and design review plans to ensure that the spacecraft is designed and built to meet the required specifications.
  • Negotiate interfaces with different teams to ensure that the spacecraft is integrated correctly.
  • Provide Risk Management support to identify and mitigate potential risks.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Degree from an ABET accredited institution in a relevant field, such as engineering or computer science.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in space vehicle hardware design with a strong understanding of systems engineering principles.
  • Experience in project planning and technical integration with a strong understanding of project management principles.
  • Outstanding negotiation and collaboration skills to work effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to breakdown complex problems into manageable pieces to ensure that the spacecraft is designed and built to meet the required specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with hardware production, including composite materials to ensure that the spacecraft is designed and built to meet the required specifications.
  • Knowledge of the current SLS program and SPIE ISPE and EUS interfaces to ensure that the spacecraft is integrated correctly.
  • Knowledge of model-based systems engineering applications to ensure that the spacecraft is designed and built to meet the required specifications.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite to facilitate communication among team members.

Work Environment:

This role primarily involves office work, interaction with colleagues, management, and clients, and occasional travel within the USA.

Physical Requirements:

Involves sitting for extended periods during meetings and desk work, and the ability to use stairs or elevators.

Equipment and Machines:

Proficient in operating general office equipment.

Attendance:

Typically a workday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday with minimal overtime occasionally required.

Other Essential Functions:

U.S. Citizenship is required. Must exhibit the ability to work independently and make rational decisions.
