Position Summary

We are looking for qualified candidates for a full-time Activities Assistant / Passenger Vehicle Operator role at the Eastern Loudoun Adult Day Center. Under the general supervision of the designated supervisor, this position will facilitate support for participants at the adult day center. Responsibilities include leading various programs for small to large groups (both indoors and outdoors) in activities such as crafts, exercise, cognitive and physical games, and field trips. The role also involves assisting clients with daily living activities, including dressing, toileting, hygiene, eating, drinking, and mobility; providing support for special events, including furniture setup; and transporting clients to and from the center while assisting them in boarding and exiting vehicles. Ideal candidates should possess strong communication skills, be team-oriented, have excellent customer service abilities, and thrive in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinating client participation in activities designed for both small and large groups.
  • Developing program initiatives based on resource evaluations and client feedback; collaborating with staff to create new program concepts.
  • Assisting clients of the Adult Day Center with daily living activities.
  • Supporting program activities and special events at the Center.
  • Providing assistance to clients experiencing health issues or accidents, adhering to established first aid protocols and universal precautions.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of client information, including medical, personal, financial, and other sensitive matters, in both verbal and written communications.
  • Transporting clients and ensuring vehicles are safe and operational.
  • Performing other essential duties related to the specific role and departmental assignment as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent, along with one (1) year of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience working directly with older adults.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant or Personal Care Aide.
  • ServSafe certification.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements:

  • Successful completion of criminal and DMV background checks and a pre-employment drug screening prior to hire.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required, with driving records subject to annual review for ongoing eligibility.
  • Within three months of employment, the individual must obtain a CDL (Class C with Passenger endorsement) learner's permit, with a full license required within six months. Compliance with DOT regulations and Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees is mandatory.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
  • OSHA training regarding bloodborne pathogens is required within 30 days of employment.
  • Completion of necessary training mandated by the County, including e-learning and the MOAT program as required.
  • Submission of a Sworn Disclosure Statement prior to hire.
  • A TB test is required no earlier than 30 days before or no later than seven days after hire.
  • Completion of the required PCA (Personal Care Assistant) course within 60 days of hire.
  • Annual DSS-required training must be completed.
