Position Summary

We are looking for qualified candidates for part-time Youth Program Coordinator roles within the County After School Activities (CASA) program and Youth After-School (YAS) program. These esteemed after-school initiatives have been serving Loudoun County's elementary and middle school-aged youth for over three decades. Our team embraces diversity in all forms to ensure every child feels welcomed, valued, and included. A Youth Program Coordinator will aid in the planning and execution of recreational activities, including indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, themed projects, and quieter activities such as snack time and homework assistance for children. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong passion for engaging and nurturing youth.


Positions are available at various locations throughout Loudoun County. Applicants should be open to working at multiple program sites. Specific options will be detailed in the supplemental questions of the application.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead recreational programs for children by adhering to established curricula, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and applying training and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Facilitate activities, group games, and reading sessions according to curriculum plans and the children's needs.
  • Create a welcoming and secure environment for children, assist with daily health checks, manage food service items, and follow emergency protocols.
  • Perform other essential job functions specific to the position and departmental assignment as required.

Please include all relevant employment and volunteer experiences related to working with or supervising children in childcare, recreational, and educational settings.


The CASA program operates Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., while the YAS program runs Monday through Friday from 3:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., aligning with Loudoun County's Public Schools' academic calendar.


The Youth Program Coordinator position is eligible for a $3,000.00 hiring bonus as part of the County's Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.
Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of relevant experience working with children.


Applicants lacking experience may be considered for a lower grade position as an After-School Aide if they meet the minimum requirement of being at least 16 years of age. Specific options will be provided in the supplemental questions of the application.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • One year of programmatic experience, including prior supervisory roles, is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in using iPads, phones, and laptops.
  • Bilingual skills are preferred.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
  • Successful completion of pre-employment, criminal, and fingerprint background checks.
  • All applicants must possess First Aid (Infant through Adult) and CPR certifications either prior to starting or within 30 days of employment.
  • Pass TB screening questions before hire and every two years thereafter.
  • A sworn disclosure statement or affirmation must be completed upon hiring and every five (5) years thereafter, disclosing any criminal convictions or pending charges.
