Koniag Data Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is in search of an Information Security Specialist with a Secret clearance to provide support to KDS and our government clientele.

Key Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in Cybersecurity roles within a computing environment, focusing on host-based and network-based security in accordance with US government standards and policies.
  • Proficiency in utilizing the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) for security compliance, accreditation, and certification, particularly with Federal or DoD processes.
  • Familiarity with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and NIST Cybersecurity Special Publications, as well as experience with DoD-approved vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Ability to draft, format, develop, review, and publish cybersecurity technical and policy documents.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying program structures to various stakeholders.
  • Experience with RMF, having facilitated at least two packages from Step 1 through Step 5 of the NIST RMF process, achieving a favorable Authorization to Operate (ATO) from a DoD Authorizing Official.
  • Knowledge of NIST SP revision 4 Security Controls, including in-depth understanding of individual Assessment Procedure families and the distinction between Assessment Procedures and Common Control Identifiers.
  • Experience conducting internal audits of security controls on existing documentation, systems, and significant computing/network components in line with DoD, NIST, and best practices.
  • Proficient in writing policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and able to demonstrate this capability.
  • Strong writing, grammar, proofreading, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • A self-driven individual who requires minimal supervision.
  • A collaborative team player.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interview and synthesize complex information from Subject Matter Experts, System Administrators, and System Owners into clear and coherent documentation.
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools and other network and host-based security solutions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Operating Systems, networking operations, embedded operating systems, and their interconnections within larger systems.
  • Secret clearance is mandatory.
Demonstrated abilities include:
  • Creating Network Architectural diagrams that depict an Information Systems Accreditation Boundary using Visio or similar software.
  • Validating hardware and software components within an accreditation boundary.
  • Providing samples of previous work related to Policies/Procedures or core documentation.
Required proficiency in the following tools:
  • Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Visio
  • Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS)
  • SharePoint 2010 or later
  • DISA STIG Viewer
  • NIST SP Security Controls
Work Environment & Conditions
This position operates in a professional office setting with a noise level that is generally low to moderate. The role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

The work is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office role, and involves sitting, standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks. The workload may require prolonged periods of sitting. The incumbent must be capable of reading, performing basic math calculations, and managing moderate stress levels.

Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 25 lbs may be required. Specific vision abilities necessary for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
