Position Summary:
Salient Federal Solutions, Inc. is in search of an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO). The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in assessing the security of IT software applications and systems, adhering to federal IT policies and guidelines, including FISMA and NIST.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all facets of security and compliance for the DBIS project.
- Assist in the completion and updating of all necessary Information System Certification & Accreditation (C&A) activities.
- Support the OIT Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) in fulfilling the information security requirements for data processing environments.
- Collaborate with the ISSM in managing and administering USCIS IT application systems operations, ensuring compliance with federal security regulations, policies, guidelines, and applicable NIST standards.
- Ensure the information systems security of IT application systems, confirming that sensitive applications operating in computing centers adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines.

- Prepare essential documentation to facilitate the Certification and Accreditation (C&A) process as mandated by the Government. Monitor and ensure the completion of the Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M).
- Develop and maintain an Information Security Plan as part of the overall Information Systems Security Plan, establishing policies, procedures, and management control processes that guarantee high assurance of operational continuity, data integrity, and appropriate measures to minimize the risk of misuse of systems information resources.

- Establish, maintain, and periodically test contingency and disaster recovery plans, continuity of operations plans, and execute emergency procedures for backup capabilities at a Government-provided facility.
- Coordinate with C&A efforts, security scans, and vulnerability assessments, testing the security integrity of operating systems and conducting security test and evaluation activities, including penetration testing of communication networks and workstation utilities as required.

Qualifications:
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of IT experience, with at least three (3) years focused on IT Security.
- In-depth knowledge of NIST security controls and necessary documentation.
- Experience in preparing System Security Plans and conducting Risk Assessments.
- Exceptional technical communication skills with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Proven experience in mitigating security risks and documenting plans of action and milestones (POAMs).
- Demonstrated ability to present ideas effectively, both written and orally, within a cross-functional environment.
- Prior experience in a collaborative team setting is essential.
- CISSP certification is required.
- Must be a US Citizen and eligible to obtain a DHS Suitability clearance.
