Key Responsibilities- Conduct Security Assessments: Perform oversight of the development, implementation, and evaluation of information security program policies, with a focus on integrating existing security infrastructure.
- Assess Information Systems: Conduct assessments of information systems based on the Risk Management Framework (RMF) or the JAFAN 6/3 process.
- Advise on Security Issues: Advise the government on assessment and authorization issues, as well as assessment methodologies and processes.
- Evaluate Authorization Packages: Evaluate authorization packages and make recommendations to the Authorization Official (AO) and/or Designated Approving Authority (DAO) for authorization.
- Identify Security Threats and Vulnerabilities: Evaluate information system threats and vulnerabilities to determine whether additional safeguards are required.
- Advise on Impact Levels: Advise the government on the impact levels for confidentiality, integrity, and availability for the information on a system.
- Review and Approve Security Plans: Review and approve the Information System Security Plan (SSP), the System Configuration and Technical Management (SCTM), and the Security Control Assessment Procedures.
- Ensure Security Assessments are Completed: Ensure that security assessments are completed for each information system.
- Prepare Security Assessment Reports: Prepare the final Security Assessment Report (SAR) containing the results and findings from the assessment.
- Develop Plans of Action and Milestones: Develop a Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) with identified weaknesses and suspense dates for each information system based on findings and recommendations from the SAR.
- Evaluate Security Assessment Documentation: Evaluate security assessment documentation and provide written recommendations for security authorization to the government.
- Develop Authorization Packages: Develop recommendations for authorization and submit the security authorization package to the government.
- Assess Proposed Changes: Assess proposed changes to information systems, their environment of operation, and mission needs that could affect system authorization.
- Ensure Approved Procedures are in Place: Ensure that approved procedures are in place for clearing, purging, declassifying, and releasing information system memory, media, and output.
- Assist with Compliance Inspections: Assist the government with compliance inspections.
- Assist with Security Incidents: Assist the government with security incidents that relate to cybersecurity and ensure that proper and corrective measures have been taken.
- Assess Changes within the IS Boundary: Assess changes within the information system boundary that could affect the authorization of the boundary.
- Ensure IS Requirements are Addressed: Ensure that information system requirements are addressed during all phases of the system life cycle.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience (Four (4) years).
- Experience: Minimum of four (4) years' experience in Special Access Program (SAP) and Collateral Information Systems (IS) Security and the implementation of regulations identified in the description of duties.
- Certifications: Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive M for Information Assurance Technician Level 3 or Information Assurance Manager Level 3 within 6 months of the date of hire.
- Clearance: TS/SCI.
- Eligibility: Eligibility for access to Special Access Programs.
- Counterintelligence Polygraph: Willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence Polygraph.
- Security Policy: Must be familiar with current security policy/manuals.
- Communication: Must have the ability to work in a dynamic environment and effectively interact with numerous DOD, military/civilian personnel and industry partners.
- Microsoft Office: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Problem-Solving: Possess a high degree of originality, creativity, initiative requiring minimal supervision.
- Travel: Willingness to travel within the organizational geographic Area of Responsibility (AOR).
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
