This role reports to the Director of Cybersecurity and focuses on the design, prototyping, and support of security-related infrastructure and applications. You will be responsible for architecting, developing, and engineering enterprise security tools, both commercial and open-source, while continuously learning new technologies to stay ahead of evolving threats.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and architect new enterprise security tools, as well as upgrade or replace existing systems.
  2. Operate efficiently within a Linux or other shell command line environment.
  3. Provide support for security applications utilizing both commercial and open-source products.
  4. Create automated scripts to enhance operational efficiency.
  5. Develop comprehensive documentation as needed, including compliance reports, installation guides, network diagrams, and user manuals.
  6. Research, prototype, and implement innovative security technologies.
  7. Collaborate closely with the 24/7 Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) to meet their operational needs.
  8. Work effectively within a team and take direction from senior engineers.

Expectations: We seek a proactive individual with a strong work ethic who is eager to learn and possesses excellent troubleshooting skills. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with a passion for cybersecurity. You will work under general supervision, determining your approach to problem-solving, with your work reviewed upon completion for effectiveness in meeting objectives.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 6 years of experience in IT security engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Strong command of Linux and scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, and Python.
  • Experience with enterprise and open-source security tools.
  • Familiarity with network architecture and protocols, including SSL, TLS, DNS, TCP/IP, and others.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with specific tools such as Gigamon, Imperva, Cisco Firepower, and RSA NetWitness.
  • Previous work with enterprise security tools and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience in creating dashboards and alerts in Splunk.
