Job Overview

Brown University Athletics and Recreation is on the lookout for a qualified candidate to fill the role of Communications Officer. This position is integral to the division's external operations, tasked with narrating the story of Brown University Athletics through a comprehensive athletics and communications strategy. This includes managing game-day coverage, sports information, statistics, web coordination, social media oversight, and photography for Brown's 34 varsity teams and associated athletics events.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in sports-related public relations, social media, and/or digital media, showcasing a progressive approach to social and digital media.
  • Proven expertise in creative storytelling.
  • At least two (2) years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe After Effects.
  • Demonstrated ability in generating social media content, alongside strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in managing deadlines and delivering high-quality projects from inception to completion.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Develop strategies and content in accordance with Brown's policies regarding visual identity, image use, web hosting, accessibility, and vendor hiring.
  • Collaborate with internal campus stakeholders, including the Office of University Communications, for projects requiring joint efforts.

Compliance with all NCAA and Ivy League regulations is mandatory, and any violations must be reported. Coaching positions require passing the NCAA Coaches Certification Test and maintaining current AED/CPR & First Aid certification.
