Job Overview

Position Title: Community Engagement and Public Relations Specialist

Contract Duration: 1 base year with 4 optional years

This role is contingent upon the successful award of the contract.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in crafting and executing thorough media outreach strategies and community engagement initiatives, leveraging diverse media channels to inform the public.
  • Support public education initiatives through the creation and implementation of awareness programs aligned with the mission and community relations goals as set forth by the organization.
  • Independently identify and engage with influential community figures (including law enforcement, elected officials, and community leaders) to enhance awareness and develop improvement strategies.
  • Determine effective outreach techniques to initiate developmental programs through various community groups as directed by management.
  • Proactively conduct interviews, arrange meetings, and coordinate the development of case-related and subject matter requirements to establish efficient timelines for project execution.
  • Facilitate collaborative meetings with court personnel, law enforcement, community organizations, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to disseminate information and foster a positive perception of the organization.
  • Respond to inquiries initiated by management by developing a structured work plan and effectively communicating the mission of the organization.
  • Monitor local media sources for relevant stories, maintain archives of press articles, and distribute pertinent information to stakeholders.
  • Prepare a variety of reports, articles, and press releases related to community engagement activities, ensuring visibility for programs such as Drug Endangered Child initiatives and Drug Court programs.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with standard office equipment and software
  • Competence in articulating complex information and community plans, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Proficient in using computer applications for documentation and communication
  • Ability to coordinate effectively among diverse community leaders, including religious and governmental officials
  • Typing proficiency at a speed necessary for effective job performance
  • Capacity to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and community members

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license or ability to utilize approved transportation methods for travel
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required
  • Preferred candidates will possess a graduate-level degree

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent use of hands for handling and operating tools and controls
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; occasional lifting of documents weighing less than 20 pounds
  • Occasional standing and walking
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus

Mental Requirements:

  • Regular use of written and oral communication skills; ability to read and interpret data and documents
  • Ability to explain policies and procedures in various contexts
  • Utilization of mathematical reasoning and observational skills
  • Capacity to learn and apply new information or skills
  • Interaction with staff, organizations, and the public, including occasional engagement with challenging individuals
