Job Overview

Brown University Athletics and Recreation is on the lookout for a qualified candidate to fill the role of Communications Officer. This position is integral to the division's external operations, responsible for articulating the narrative of Brown University Athletics through a comprehensive communications strategy. This includes managing game-day coverage, sports information, statistical reporting, web content, social media engagement, and photography for Brown's 34 varsity teams and associated athletics events.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in sports-related public relations, social media, or digital media, showcasing a progressive approach to these platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in creative storytelling.
  • At least two (2) years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, and After Effects.
  • Proven ability in generating social media content, along with strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in managing deadlines and delivering high-quality projects from inception to completion.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Develop strategies and content that align with Brown's policies regarding visual identity, image usage, web hosting, accessibility, and vendor selection.
  • Collaborate with internal university departments, including the Office of University Communications, for projects requiring joint efforts.
