Digital Resources Access Librarian

Job Description:


The Resource Acquisitions unit at a prestigious university library is seeking a collaborative and innovative library professional to fill the role of Digital Resources Access Librarian. This position is essential for sustaining the library's substantial investment in electronic scholarly materials, which encompasses E-books, E-journals, databases, and streaming content.

The incumbent will oversee the enhancement and upkeep of e-resources metadata, ensuring optimal discovery within the library's integrated system. Responsibilities include developing local workflows to maintain high-quality metadata for electronic resources. Furthermore, this role will provide leadership in establishing and maintaining reliable online access to e-resources, coordinating troubleshooting efforts with subject librarians, vendors, and staff.

Reporting to the Director of Resource Acquisitions, the Digital Resources Access Librarian will also supervise a Senior Library Expert specializing in Data Management, who will focus on creating assessment metrics for electronic resources. Together, this team will ensure expert management and oversight of the library's extensive electronic portfolio.

This position is classified at a Librarian II rank within the library's professional development program, aimed at fostering career advancement.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in staff supervision and training within a library setting.
  • A minimum of two years of experience with current practices in electronic resource access and discovery.


Education and Experience
  • Familiarity with user security, privacy, and identity management in relation to electronic resources.
  • Understanding of best practices for the discovery and access of various e-resources.
  • Strong skills in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relations, and collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.
