Digital Resources Access Librarian

Job Description:

The University Library is seeking a highly collaborative and innovative library professional to fill the role of Digital Resources Access Librarian. This position is essential for sustaining the institution's substantial investment in electronic scholarly materials, which encompass E-books, E-journals, databases, and streaming media.

The successful candidate will oversee the enhancement and upkeep of e-resources metadata, ensuring optimal discovery within the library's integrated system. Responsibilities include developing and managing local workflows to maintain high-quality metadata for electronic resources. Additionally, this role will provide leadership in establishing reliable online access to e-resources, coordinating troubleshooting efforts with subject librarians, vendors, and library staff.

Reporting to the Director of Resource Acquisitions, the Digital Resources Access Librarian will also supervise the Senior Library Expert-Data Management, who is tasked with creating assessment metrics for electronic resources. Together, this team will ensure expert management and oversight of the library's extensive electronic portfolio.

This position is classified at a Librarian II rank within the library's professional development program, aimed at fostering career advancement.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in staff supervision and training within a library setting.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with current and emerging practices in electronic resource access and discovery.


Skills and Knowledge:
  • Understanding of user security, privacy, and identity management issues related to electronic resources.
  • Familiarity with best practices for the discovery and access of various e-resources.
  • Strong skills in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relations, and collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in library services.
