Job Overview

The Manufacturing Process Engineer plays a crucial role in optimizing production efficiency by leveraging extensive knowledge of operational protocols and methodologies. This mid-career position requires a thorough understanding of unit processes and equipment to facilitate informed decision-making that aligns with production objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive unit performance to achieve Safety, Health, Environmental, Quality, and Cost targets.
  • Provide technical guidance for designated manufacturing units, including performance monitoring and troubleshooting quality issues.
  • Oversee Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives, including Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-startup Safety Review (PSSR).
  • Lead incident investigations utilizing Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and other analytical tools.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, collaborating with various functions such as Maintenance and Quality Assurance.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities in partnership with the Maintenance Coordinator and staff.
  • Communicate daily operational plans and updates effectively within the unit.
  • Support the startup and shutdown processes of the plant under both planned and emergency scenarios.
  • Assist management in developing strategies for efficient asset utilization.
  • Employ Six Sigma and lean methodologies to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff and interns to enhance team capabilities.
  • Establish robust communication channels to promote information sharing and employee engagement.
  • Adhere to food safety and quality standards, including HACCP and GMPs.
  • Adapt to evolving business needs by performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess a degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, along with a minimum of two years of experience in an industrial or process engineering setting. Key qualifications include:

  • Proven ability to analyze data, identify solutions, and make informed business decisions.
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and commitment to safety standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and adaptability to new software.
Preferred Skills

Additional experience in the following areas is advantageous:

  • Knowledge of solids drying technologies and wastewater management.
  • Experience in capital project management.
  • Understanding of environmental regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with maintenance best practices and Work Management Processes.
  • Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
  • Proficiency in software tools such as SAP and SharePoint.
  • Six Sigma Certification and knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies.
Additional Preferences

Candidates with over five years of experience in food manufacturing or chemical industries, particularly those with a Chemical Engineering degree, are highly regarded. A desire for growth and leadership within a plant environment is essential.
