Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Construction Administrator with extensive experience in managing public sector educational projects. This role demands a deep understanding of construction processes and the ability to navigate complex constructability challenges.

As a Senior Construction Administrator, your primary responsibilities will include overseeing the bidding process, managing construction administration, and ensuring successful project closeout. You will engage in proactive problem-solving, collaborate closely with design teams, interact with clients, manage financial aspects, and mentor junior personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the main point of contact during the construction administration phase, ensuring effective communication and coordination among all stakeholders, including owners, contractors, architects, and consultants.
  • Guarantee the timely and accurate completion of all documentation and communications throughout the bidding process.
  • Work alongside the Project Manager to monitor the financial status of projects during construction and closeout.
  • Assist clients with bid evaluations, contract awards, and the selection of testing laboratories.
  • Interpret project plans and specifications to address Requests for Information (RFIs) and resolve any conflicts that arise.
  • Conduct site observations, perform punch list inspections, and ensure contractor adherence to contract documents.
  • Coordinate the final punch list schedule, verify closeout documentation, and assist in the archiving of project materials.
  • Provide training and mentorship to staff on construction administration standards and procedures.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in construction management within the public education sector is required; familiarity with California's Division of the State Architect (DSA) is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and delegate responsibilities to team members.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • In-depth knowledge of the bidding, construction, government agency processes, and project closeout.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for effective correspondence with owners, contractors, consultants, and team members.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to resolve conflicts on-site.
  • Proficient in using PDF software for digital review and processing of construction documents such as RFIs, submittals, addenda, and change orders.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit for document navigation is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this position is $104,000 to $140,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other relevant factors.
