Role Summary

The Medical Accounts Receivable Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and precise follow-up on insurance claims and managing claim denials in alignment with company policies. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of one year of experience in healthcare accounts receivable and a solid grasp of medical billing practices.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily tasks related to accounts receivable aging, denial management, and credit balance reporting to ensure accurate and timely resolution for various clients.
  • Identify and rectify billing discrepancies and resubmit claims to insurance providers.
  • Communicate AR billing issues and discrepancies to the AR Supervisor and assist in their resolution.
  • Analyze reimbursement discrepancies and notify the AR Supervisor as necessary.
  • Research billing requirements by engaging with payers via phone.
  • Initiate appeals with both commercial and government insurance entities.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of insurance reimbursements and implement procedures that promote optimal collection in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Recognize trends in claim denials and report findings to the AR Supervisor.
  • Ensure adherence to all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the role.

Qualifications

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in healthcare accounts receivable is required; experience in medical billing is preferred.

Licensure/Certification: A valid driver's license is required.

Language Proficiency: Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in medical billing software systems is required, along with strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint.

Reasoning Skills: Ability to organize and manage workload effectively, maintaining a strong understanding of anesthesia billing operations.


Work Environment

This hybrid position requires 2 to 3 days in the office with standard working hours. The role involves sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional requirements to stoop or kneel. Local travel may be necessary, with potential for overnight travel for conferences.
