Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Accounts Receivable Coordinator specializing in Pathology billing to enhance our team at Diligent Billing and Management LLC. This role offers a flexible hybrid work environment, allowing you to balance your professional and personal life effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary expert on specific insurance payers, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of their claims processes and coding requirements.
  • Manage and resolve outstanding insurance claims and account balances through proactive communication with payers via phone, fax, email, and payer-specific platforms.
  • Address claim denials and clearhouse discrepancies efficiently.
  • Handle insurance correspondence and research credit balances, coordinating with the refund department as necessary.
  • Update and maintain payer guidelines to inform the organization of any changes.
  • Support Patient Services with requests for statements, itemized bills, and other inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with company production and quality assurance standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team objectives.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years in medical billing and collections, with a focus on Pathology.
  • Understanding of billing processes, including HCFA 1500 and UB4 forms.
  • Strong familiarity with insurance payers, including Medicare and Medicaid, and the ability to interpret EOBs.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, particularly in the field of Pathology.
  • Proficiency in CPT4, ICD10, and HCPCS coding.
  • Experience with NextGen Practice Management and Availity/Realmed systems is advantageous.

Skills:

  • Exceptional multitasking abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote setting.
  • A collaborative team player willing to assist colleagues.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret insurance explanations of benefits.

Work Environment:

The role requires:

  • Extended periods of sitting at a workstation.
  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Repetitive motions associated with office tasks.
