Position Overview

The Senior Vice President of Facilities Management will oversee multiple facility regions, tasked with delivering leadership, strategic foresight, tactical implementation, and business insight to meet the varied facilities requirements across QTS. This role involves coordinating, synthesizing, and integrating all facets of corporate real estate oversight, financial assessment, master planning, and new construction, alongside direct management of existing facilities, including infrastructure upkeep, data center operations, and business continuity/disaster recovery protocols for all owned and leased properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and enforce facilities policies and procedures in alignment with corporate guidelines and legal regulations.
  • Develop and oversee short-term and long-term business strategies that align with the company's profit and growth goals, setting operational standards for cost efficiency, waste minimization, quality assurance, safety, and environmental stewardship.
  • Supervise the creation and execution of effective operating budgets for each data center within the designated region.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements through diligent oversight of the operations budget.
  • Lead a team of Data Center Directors and other leaders to ensure the proactive delivery of corporate services, including space planning, power and cooling services, headcount forecasting, budgeting, capital projects, maintenance, janitorial services, landscaping, and business continuity/disaster recovery for facilities.
  • Collaborate with Regional Leaders and other business unit heads to achieve operational excellence.
  • Negotiate contracts for improvement projects as necessary for both leased and owned properties.
  • Work with professional staff to resolve operational challenges, authorize procedures, and approve significant estimates.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with staff and executive management.
  • Utilize comparative evaluations and key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of operational programs at each data center, employing benchmarking and best practices.
  • Ensure all facilities comply with governmental operating standards.
  • Maintain current licenses, permits, and certifications as required.
  • Engage in community activities and maintain professional association affiliations.
  • Drive innovation in facilities programs with a commitment to environmental sustainability.
  • Participate in acquisition teams to evaluate potential facilities as needed.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of fifteen years of experience in facilities management, data center management, corporate/military engineering, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in people management, preferably with virtual team management experience.
  • Strong understanding of relevant regulations and laws, along with general knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, maintenance, and safety codes.
  • Experience with construction practices, building codes, and project management.
  • Proven experience with P&L responsibility, budgeting, and financial modeling.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position due to federal customer contracts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree (MBA, MPA, or Master's in Engineering or Construction Management) or 20+ years of related experience and/or training.
