Traffic Operations Specialist

Position Overview:
This role is classified as uncovered; the individual in this position serves at the discretion of the Director of the Department of Public Safety. Please note that this recruitment may conclude without prior notice.
Under guidance, the incumbent will engage in activities within a structured setting to oversee and coordinate traffic operations. Collaborating with State Troopers, Operational Communications, personnel from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), and various public safety organizations, the role involves monitoring and managing traffic conditions as well as assisting in the resolution of traffic incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
Applicants should possess a minimum of three years of law enforcement experience as an Arizona POST-certified peace officer or as a police communications dispatcher. A valid Arizona driver's license is required and must be maintained.
Pre-Employment Criteria:
Candidates must undergo an examination process, which includes a polygraph and a thorough background investigation for those who advance successfully. The Department of Public Safety is committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace, necessitating pre-employment drug testing.
If the position involves driving or utilizing a vehicle as a fundamental aspect of the job for conducting State business, the following stipulations apply: All newly appointed State employees are required to successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
