Position Overview

Under general supervision, oversees the assessment, management, and prompt resolution of Workers Compensation claims in accordance with organizational, carrier, and regulatory standards. Collaborates with the Vice President and/or Assistant Vice President of Claims to enhance the efficiency of the Service Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establishes and communicates performance benchmarks and objectives, conducting regular performance evaluations.
  • Implements corrective measures for performance issues in alignment with human resources policies.
  • Recommends and approves salary adjustments, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Administers all company human resource policies, ensuring compliance among staff.
  • Guides team members on educational and professional development opportunities to foster career growth.
  • Maintains open communication regarding current trends and developments within the department through regular meetings.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and allocates claims to appropriate examiners, ensuring adherence to directives.
  • Balances workloads in accordance with established staffing models to optimize productivity.
  • Provides daily file reviews to identify further requirements based on best practice standards.
  • Assists with reserve recommendations and approvals, coaching staff on investigations and evaluations.
  • Ensures compliance with internal and external standards for large loss reporting.
  • Prepares staff for client, carrier, and broker claim reviews.
  • Keeps the Vice President/Assistant Vice President informed of activities and challenges within the area of responsibility.
  • Performs additional related tasks as necessary.
  • Utilizes the Risk Tech Claim System and ancillary systems to maximize workflow efficiency.
  • May assist in training new and existing staff on the operation of the Risk Tech claim system and other relevant systems.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience as a Claim Examiner or equivalent, demonstrating the ability to manage complex cases with sound judgment.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Industry designations such as IIA, AIC, AEI, and/or CPCU are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Must meet state licensing requirements for the relevant lines of insurance.

As outlined in internal, client, and carrier guidelines.
