In this capacity, the Experienced Claims Adjuster will engage in a comprehensive approach to managing Casualty claims within a collaborative team framework focused on exemplary claims handling. Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and adjusting general casualty claims that affect primary, umbrella, and excess policies while maintaining superior customer service and technical claim file integrity.
  • Proactively managing claims from initial notification of loss to final resolution, while providing guidance to internal partners and engaging with clients and brokers.
  • Collaborating with the insured, broker, and third-party administrators in the claims handling and adjudication process.
  • Analyzing and drafting coverage correspondence as necessary, effectively communicating coverage positions.
  • Conducting, coordinating, and proactively managing the investigation process to ensure timely claim resolutions.
  • Closely monitoring assignments to experts and defense counsel as required.
  • Evaluating information related to coverage, liability, and damages to assess exposure for both the insured and the company.
  • Preparing reports, setting reserves within authority, or making recommendations regarding reserve adjustments.
  • Traveling to conferences, mediations, and trials as needed.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A high level of specialized and technical expertise in claims management is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in handling casualty or professional liability claims, or an equivalent background.
  • A college degree or equivalent experience is required; a Juris Doctorate is preferred.
  • The ability to work independently and assimilate information from diverse sources is crucial.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills are necessary.
  • A proven ability to work effectively within a team environment while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in managing claims across various jurisdictions, with a willingness to obtain necessary licenses.
