Position Overview
As a Senior Claims Examiner, you will be responsible for investigating and resolving intricate, high-value claims with efficiency and fairness, operating with minimal oversight. You will work within established guidelines on moderately challenging claims, reviewing coverage details, assessing liability and compensability, gathering necessary information, coordinating property damage evaluations, and settling claims in accordance with industry best practices. Your role will involve evaluating and determining reserves using your independent judgment, while also supporting supervisors and legal representatives in preparing cases for litigation. Additionally, you will provide training and mentorship to new team members.
Key Responsibilities
+ Utilize independent judgment to interpret and make decisions on complex and atypical policy coverages, assessing their applicability to submitted claims.
+ Oversee all investigative activities related to complex claims, guiding the discovery and litigation strategies in collaboration with legal counsel.
+ Conduct thorough analyses of claims activities and generate comprehensive reports for clients, carriers, and management.
+ Establish reserves based on your expertise and independent judgment, authorizing payments within your authority to ensure claims are settled in a cost-effective manner while facilitating timely disbursements.
+ Ensure prompt and fair settlement of claims, issuing company drafts for payments within your authorized limits.
+ Identify potential for subrogation and third-party recoveries, adhering to reclaim procedures.
+ Analyze claims activities and prepare detailed reports for clients, carriers, and management, actively participating in claims reviews.
Qualifications
+ A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
+ A minimum of 4-8 years of technical claims investigation and settlement experience within a claims or similar organization.
+ Ability to work autonomously while assimilating various technical subjects.
+ Exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
+ Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strong capacity to manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively.
+ Strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with all levels of internal and external clients.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Professional designations such as IIA, AIC, AEI, and/or CPCU are preferred.
