Job Overview
As a Dialysis Nurse Specialist, you will train patients in home hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis. You will assess patient performance, communicate results to physicians and team members, and document all nursing services.
Responsibilities
- Train patients in self-care Peritoneal Dialysis or Hemodialysis, meeting federal and state regulations governing Registered Nurse qualifications.
- Conduct home visits to assess the patient's home environment and evaluate patient performance.
- Communicate assessment results to physicians, team members, and others as needed.
- Document all nursing services, including training sessions, routine interactions, and phone conversations.
- Participate in infection control monitoring and implementation.
- Ensure clinic and patient supply inventory is appropriate for patient prescriptions.
- Continuously seek to improve patient and quality outcomes through data tracking and analysis.
Requirements
You must have knowledge of federal, state, local laws and regulations, including health care professionals practice act requirements. You should also be familiar with emergency equipment and procedures.
