Breast Imaging Specialist, Radiology OP

The Breast Imaging Specialist is tasked with executing a diverse range of mammographic examinations while ensuring exceptional patient care. The individual must exhibit behavior and communication skills that reflect the core mission, values, and culture of CHRISTUS Health.
Key Responsibilities:
• Adheres to the established OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Conducts various mammographic examinations utilizing independent judgment to deliver high-quality patient care, consistently demonstrating excellent judgment in image evaluation.
• Operates an array of radiographic and auxiliary equipment, including mammographic, ultrasound, and stereotactic breast biopsy machines, as well as mobile radiographic and fluoroscopic devices as required.
• Safeguards patients from unnecessary radiation exposure by employing lead shields and implementing various safety protocols.
• Selects appropriate film sizes, collimates, and positions equipment at the correct distance and angle to the patient's body to generate clear, undistorted diagnostic images.
• Assists the radiologist in executing and producing a variety of fluoroscopic procedures by setting the necessary radiographic technique parameters on the equipment, preparing and administering the appropriate contrast media, and positioning the patient for the required exposures.
• Responsible for the upkeep of mammography equipment and components; ensures the availability of emergency trays and supplies as needed. Maintains an adequate inventory for Mammographic Screening, Diagnostic, and Surgical procedures.
• Identifies abnormal anatomy and pathological conditions while assessing patients for suitable procedures.
• Upholds Quality Control/Quality Assurance in compliance with MQSA programs and ACR, FDA, and TDH standards and regulations. Ensures that all documentation is accurately recorded and organized for immediate inspection if necessary.
• Demonstrates the ability to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the specific and developmental needs of the patient population served by the department.
• Appropriately modifies assigned patient assessments, treatments, and care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each patient served.
• Exemplifies adherence to the CORE VALUES of CHRISTUS Health.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
• Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program or an equivalent recognized institution is required.
Experience:
• 1 to 3 years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology is preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Mammography.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
• Registered by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography and Mammography is required.
• Current state licensure is required.
• Current BLS (American Heart Association) certification is required.
